DUBAI, UAE / RankWire.AI / – UAE airline flydubai has increased its flight capacity to Italy in response to rising international travel demand. Official reports from Emirates News Agency confirm that flydubai is enhancing its operations in Italy by adding more flights to key commercial hubs. Starting from the new schedule launching July 31, 2026, the airline will operate double daily flights linking Dubai with Milan-Bergamo, while also expanding its presence in Naples with daily round-trip flights.

This expanded timetable strengthens flydubai’s overall presence in Italy, which already includes three weekly flights to Catania Airport in Sicily and seasonal summer services twice a week to Olbia Costa Smeralda Airport in Sardinia, which run through the end of August. Besides increasing flight frequencies, the airline has announced operational adjustments due to scheduled infrastructure work in Southern Italy. As part of planned maintenance at Naples International Airport, flydubai will temporarily reroute its daily Dubai International Airport service to Salerno Costa d’Amalfi and Cilento Airport from November 1 to November 30, 2026. The airline plans to resume regular flights to Naples on December 1, 2026, with existing bookings automatically transferred to the Salerno route during this period.
Codeshare Agreement Facilitates Passenger Transfers via Dubai
The new routes to Milan-Bergamo and Naples operate under the established codeshare agreement between flydubai and the international carrier Emirates. This partnership allows travelers to benefit from integrated travel plans, single-ticket options, synchronized schedules, and through-checked baggage handling across both airlines’ networks. By leveraging the shared network through Dubai’s central hub, passengers from Italian airports gain easier access to long-haul destinations across Africa, Asia, and the Middle East, including direct routes to Kenya, Oman, the Maldives, Sri Lanka, and Zanzibar.
This capacity boost aligns with broader trends in commercial aviation within the Middle East and Europe, where international passenger numbers have steadily increased post-pandemic. The higher flight frequencies support growing bilateral trade, investment, and tourism exchanges between the UAE and Italy. The addition of double daily flights to Milan-Bergamo provides more seats for business travelers heading to Italy’s main financial and industrial centers, while daily flights to Southern Italy cater to increasing seasonal tourism along the scenic Amalfi Coast’s cultural landmarks.
Commenting on the network growth, Ghaith Al Ghaith, flydubai’s CEO, stated that Naples and Milan have become vital gateways within the airline’s European network. He emphasized that ensuring consistent regional access remains a priority, alongside a long-term commitment to connect underserved markets. Al Ghaith pointed out that market data shows flydubai’s expansion in Italy through strategic frequency increases, accommodating the rising passenger flow between the United Arab Emirates and Italy, especially as travel volumes pick up heading into the winter season.
Regional Airports Serve as Direct Access Points for Travelers
Jeyhun Efendi, flydubai’s Divisional Senior Vice President of Commercial Operations and E-commerce, highlighted that enhancing direct flight options to Naples and Milan-Bergamo underscores the Italian market’s strategic importance. Efendi explained that offering non-stop routes enables international travelers to connect seamlessly via Dubai, utilizing both airlines’ combined reach to access global destinations. The airline’s leadership affirmed that fleet planning and operational teams are ready to manage the increased number of daily flights, maintaining high reliability for both passenger and cargo services.
These operational enhancements in Italy are part of flydubai’s ongoing fleet expansion and international route development plans. As the airline acquires more modern narrow-body aircraft, it aims to further boost frequencies on high-demand European routes. The expanded schedules in Italy reinforce Dubai’s position as a major global transit hub, enabling efficient passenger and freight movement between Europe and expanding markets across the Middle East, Indian Subcontinent, and East Africa.
